If you are considering divorce or marriage it is smart to know what could cause you to get divorced or what could save your marriage if it gets in trouble. One of the questions many newly married couples or even couples that have been married ask is, why do couples get divorced? This is also accompanied by the question, what should I do if I want a divorce? Here are the answers to both of those questions.

The top 3 Answer to the question, Why Do Couple Get Divorced?

1. Money/Finances

One of the biggest stressors in a marriage is money. When the financial situation is a struggle it impacts the rest of the marriage and this can cause divorce to happen very fast. You may think that it is not about money, but many couples stop loving each other because they feel stress over money. Even if the bills are paid, but it is a struggle this can put a strain on a marriage.

2. Communication or Lack of Communication

Another one of the major causes of divorce is a lack of communication. When you are able to communicate well you can keep a marriage alive and kicking. This is one of those things that some of the most successful couples have and those that are not so successful do not have. Sometimes it can be that you are giving your partner too much information or just not saying it in a way that they can understand.

Another one of the biggest problems in the communication area is letting emotions dictate what you are trying to get across to your partner. If you try to tell them that you are not feeling right about something, but you get very emotional about it, then they may take it differently than you are trying to communicate it to them.

3. Abuse (not just physical)

Another huge cause of divorce is the abuse that one partner takes from another. This is not always physical and it can be a woman making a man feel like he is not appreciated or a man making a woman feel like she is not appreciated. Abuse can be physical and can be the woman or the man beating on the other one as well. Abuse comes in many forms and if you are belittling your partner, then you are abusing them.

What Should you Do if you Want a Divorce?

If you are considering a divorce the first thing you need to do is make sure you have tried everything imaginable to keep the marriage alive. Sometimes couples give up way too easy when counseling or at least a mediator can help with the communication and can get the marriage back on track. If you want a divorce, then you should start by exhausting all options to save the marriage before you give up.

However, some marriage cannot be saved and if you have tried everything, then it is time to find a good divorce attorney and get the process started. Try your hardest to keep it civil even if your partner has cheated or done something that just really made you upset. If you keep it civil it will be easier on both of you and any children involved in the long run. This is a better way to go and this is what you should do if you want a divorce.
