A unique chandelier can be used in various locations throughout the home to provide lighting, add a touch of class and elegance, and to really showcase a particular area in the home. If you are in the market for finding a unique chandelier for your home, you may wonder where do unique chandeliers fit the best in the home?
Obviously, the answer to this depends upon your individual tastes as well as your individual home. Not all rooms in any given home lend themselves to accommodating a chandelier, so you need to consider a few things before deciding upon where to place the chandelier.
If you have an older home with a large foyer type of entryway, this is a great place to add a unique chandelier. Use the ultimate ceiling height of the foyer to decide upon how large the chandelier should be. If you have extremely high ceilings, you can choose a much larger style than if you have lower ceiling height. Chandeliers placed in foyers really add a classy touch to the home, as well as providing quality, yet subtle lighting. The foyer is also a good location for a unique chandelier because it will give your guests a great first impression of your home.
Another place that lends itself to the placement of a chandelier is the top level of a home which has multiple stories. Many times, older Victorian or Colonial style homes feature high, vaulted ceilings in the uppermost level. A unique chandelier looks amazing both in the home and from the street, when hung centered within an upper level window which many of these vintage homes have. Not only does it add great lighting and atmosphere within the home, but it adds a lot in curb appeal as well. Many modern homes are utilizing this location to add a spectacular, shiny chandelier, visible from the street.
If your home isn’t exceptionally large or does not have these types of interesting spaces well suited for hanging a chandelier, never fear, there are still places for you to use a chandelier as well. In a regular type of home, the obvious choice for a chandelier is one that is hung over the dining room table. This is an ideal spot for chandelier placement in homes that do not have high ceilings. Even a ceiling of standard height can accommodate a chandelier if it is centered over the dining room table. This allows for the lighting accent to be placed at a spot where no one will be standing so that there is no danger of someone bumping into the chandelier. Keep in mind when placing over a dining room table in a home, that this is where the table will always be located, because the chandelier will pose problems if hanging too low if the room is rearranged.
Kitchens are also great locations for chandeliers if the ceiling is high enough. Choose a spot that will provide good lighting as well as ambience to the room.
With today’s choices in chandelier lighting, you can choose from all price ranges and styles. You can find unique styles to fit any room in any home, whether choosing inexpensive glass varieties, or costly ones. Decide if your main goal is lighting or charm, and take it from there. Unique chandeliers can provide a practical, yet elegant touch to any home decor.
